Henry was born on the 19/7/1919 at Adelong, NSW. He enlisted on the 31/3/1941 and eventually ended up in the cockpit of a Spitfire fighter with 457 Squadron. He later transferred to 111 Mobile Fighter Control Unit, from where he discharged on 21/1/1946.

Henry was one of those extremely competent pilots who work themselves through the ranks but never seem to come to notice. The fact that he transferred to 111 Mobile Fighter Control Unit is testimony to his ability as a pilot and as an officer.
